Behind the Tools
My Story
Welcome to FixIt Femme Collective!
Welcome to FixIt Femme Collective! I am delighted you’re here!
Have you ever found yourself hesitant to call a repairperson into your home, feeling unsure about having a stranger there? Maybe in the past, you’ve taken your vehicle in for service and were given a larger than expected quote with the need to determine if this car repair really should cost that much. Have you always wanted to pick up tools, but don’t know where to start? Do you often wonder “How hard could it be?” My name is Krysten, and I believe that with the right information, you can make the decision to either take on a repair yourself or responsibly seek out the help you need.
From as early as I can remember, I have been taking things apart and putting them back together. I spent my early years with my father in our garage workshop building and learning. By day I work in big data, enthusiastically solving seemingly impossible problems that come my way; by night I take on projects around my home that bring joy to my maker’s heart.
I have always enjoyed rolling up my sleeves and getting my hands dirty; it is my hope that I can extend that passion to you. I created the FixIt Femme Collective to share my passion around empowering others to take control of their own home and auto repairs. I believe that you’ll find what you need, whether you’re picking up a screw driver for the first time or looking to refine your skills. Here, you’ll find practical tips and guidance for minor tasks. You can expect to learn my approach to troubleshooting and testing repairs, in order to craft A process that will best serve you.
My belief is that, with the right guidance, there are many repairs in your home and auto that are completely manageable by yourself; allowing you to save money you thought needed to be set aside for a professional.
This is a space where no experience is required, no question is too basic, and no project is too small. I’m here to support you every step of the way as you build on your DIY skills and gain the confidence to tackle any repair that comes your way. I welcome any and all questions that you believe will help in empowering you to become confident in building your DIY skills.
I am excited to be on this journey with you. Let’s get fixing, and in the wise words of Elle Woods, “What, like it’s hard?”
Please note that I am not a licensed professional, nor do I wish to represent myself as one. I am just a passionate fixer who wishes to empower other femme presenting people with the tools to become one themselves.
